About IDinsight

IDinsight exists to transform how the world fights poverty. We push the frontiers of data and evidence to help sector leaders make better decisions and improve millions of lives.

We partner with visionary leaders across governments, NGOs, and foundations throughout Africa and Asia to make sure their decisions are guided by real evidence of what works. By using cutting-edge methodologies, ranging from randomized evaluations to advanced data analytics, we provide the most reliable evidence available to drive impactful decisions. Our work spans sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and more, delivering tailored solutions that maximize social impact. At IDinsight, we don't just analyze data—we transform it into action that improves millions of lives.

Our Approach

When a rural health minister needs to know which intervention will save the most children's lives, we're there. When an education leader wants to get thousands more girls into school, we help identify solutions. When communities face climate disasters, we ensure resources reach those most vulnerable.

We do this by:

  • Listening deeply to what decision-makers truly need
  • Providing practical, rigorous evidence tailored to their specific questions
  • Building lasting capacity so communities can continue making data-driven decisions
  • Ensuring dignity remains at the center of all our work

Our diverse team of roughly 200 outstanding colleagues works across nearly two dozen countries, united by a shared commitment to excellence, impact, and equity.

We believe that by putting the right evidence in the right hands at the right time, we can help create a world where everyone's basic needs are met and all people have the opportunity to flourish.

The Opportunity

IDinsight is seeking a passionate, entrepreneurial Director of Fundraising to join our dynamic team at a pivotal moment in our journey. We're looking for someone who will be laser-focused on relationships and results – specifically through one-on-one, direct engagements with donors and prospects about the impact of IDinsight in our partner communities. You'll be responsible for driving fundraising results and establishing a diversified and more nimble revenue model for the organization.

As the Director of Fundraising, you'll report to the CEO and partner closely with the Director of Strategic Initiatives, Director of Communications, and the larger Management Group. You'll utilize IDinsight's 2021-2026 strategy to engage data-minded and impact-centric philanthropy in realizing our vision of social impact.

This is truly an exciting opportunity for someone who loves building relationships (while driving toward results), and has a heart for our mission of using data and evidence to fight poverty worldwide.

The Ideal Candidate

At essence, you are someone who:

  • Wants to have a big impact! You're passionate and knowledgeable about global development and can draw from past experience in similar settings. You might have served in a role on the front lines of low-income communities and are driven by the desire to have a lasting impact.
  • Is a connector of people – perhaps serving as a community organizer, coalition builder, or dynamic networker. You're always making unexpected connections between people, have genuine interest in their stories, and have great skill with listening and empathy that motivates others to get involved.
  • Has a background in relational sales or business development – or in fundraising through one-on-one engagements. You enjoy telling an inspiring story, engaging with empathy, and being bold in making asks and getting results. You have a heart for our mission, aren't afraid of failure, and have the persistence to push through obstacles.
  • Is a natural builder – you have a start-up mentality, create things with minimal resources, handle administrative tasks with ease, and truly enjoy diving in while figuring out the way forward.
  • Is collaborative – you break down barriers and see how different teams and stakeholders can naturally work with and support one another. You build bridges and naturally want to see things from others' perspectives.
  • Is a proactive communicator – you understand the importance of over-communicating, speaking up, and being direct, with the vision in mind as a guide. You take the lead in making conversations happen and ensure the right people are at the table.

Responsibilities

Strategic philanthropy leadership

A passionate advocate who inspires transformative investments in data-driven solutions to global poverty. In this role, you will:

  3. Design compelling investment opportunities: Create tailored engagement strategies that connect donors' philanthropic goals with IDinsight's evidence-based solutions - transforming their giving into measurable social impact.
  4. Lead cross-organizational collaboration: Orchestrate the development of powerful proposals and communications that showcase our unique approach and demonstrate clear pathways to impact.
  5. Bridge regions and resources: Partner closely with our global teams to understand critical needs and opportunities, then identify and secure funding that enables transformative projects across Africa and Asia.

Engagement, relationship building and stewardship outreach

A strong oral and written communicator, the Director will be poised to both attract and discover prospects and retain active partners in pursuit of IDinsight's strategy.

Drive the plans, coordination, and direct engagement opportunities (webinars, visits, meetings) for prospects and donors, orchestrating the right colleague to engage at the right time.
  5. Experiment with new approaches and analyze feedback from outreach efforts to continuously improve.

Planning and management

A proactive planner and leader elevating the voice of external partner perspectives and landscapes for the leadership team, uncovering mutually beneficial collaboration for IDinsight, our partners, and our donor audience.

  1. Set and drive progress towards long- and short-range goals for your team's full fundraising cycle (prospect research and learning, identification, development, engagement, the ask, and stewardship) in conjunction with the strategic plan.
  2. Recruit, hire, manage, retain, and grow the philanthropic engagement team to ensure professional growth and attainment of team-wide and individual goals with a clear accountability framework.
  3. Report regularly to the CEO as well as other leadership colleagues on all fundraising activity, including through the implementation of clear management and account ownership systems, aligned with key internal stakeholders to provide shared understanding across the organization and make it easier for all IDinsight colleagues to participate in resource mobilization efforts.
  4. Partner to enhance organization operations, with a particular focus on alignment between the fundraising reporting and tracking systems, communications and finance teams.
  5. Develop and manage the team's budget, ensuring that funds are spent efficiently and effectively to support the team goals and broader mission.
