Lead Accountant

Location: New Delhi, India

Objectives of the Role 

The Lead Accountant is responsible for performing accounting and reporting functions for IDinsight globally and may be involved in some compliance activities. The Lead Accountant should have highly relevant experience performing accounting and financial tasks in a mid-size Indian organization in the service industry closely linked to an international parent organization.  This is a hands-on role, and the incumbent should expect to execute some processes directly, in addition to reviewing the work of others.  We expect this individual to grow with the organization as we expand our operations worldwide. 

This position will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting and Compliance and will also work closely with the accounting and finance teams based in Delhi.

About the Lead Accountant role

Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation of accounting policies and internal controls
  • Own the accounting system, including managing the accounting transactions and the chart of accounts
  • Review AP Invoices and General Ledger (GL) Transactions on a periodic basis
  • Review Revenue entries and tracker on a monthly basis
  • Review entity wise Trial balance on a monthly basis
  • Oversee regular reconciliations of balance sheet and intercompany accounts 
  • Upload batch reports and transactions to the accounting system
  • Prepare accounting and financial reports as needed
  • Prepare consolidation of financial results under US GAAP
  • Ensure intercompany accounts balance to zero
  • Review Bank Reconciliation on a monthly basis
  • Review Payroll accounting on a monthly basis
  • Ensure all required accruals, Depreciation, Prepaid and other adjustments
  • Review Fixed Assets register and ensure Physical verification and audit happens on a periodic basis
  • Work along with local auditors and Global auditor to ensure annual audit happens on a timely basis as per the US GAAP and consolidated financial statements. Review and provide all information to the auditors as per the requirement
  • Ensure processes and documentation are in place to support all compliance requirements and prepared for any audits that may occur

Other Activities

  • Support in-country compliance and statutory filings etc. Ensure all compliance returns are reconciled with books of accounts
  • Coordination with Auditors in respective entities to get the audit done on a timely basis
  • Support donor and client due diligence needs related to financial compliance
  • Act as backup for other finance functions
  • Support other global financial, accounting, compliance and related tasks, as and when required and assigned by Senior Manager Accounting and Compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, Financial Management, or other relevant area required. Master’s degree in one of the above fields helpful, but not required
  • Professional qualification - CPA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent preferred
  • Post qualification exp. Minimum 6 years of work experience in accounting and finance
  • Skills and attributes: 
    • Possesses honesty, integrity, strong work ethic, and team skills 
    • Strong problem-solving and communication abilities; is organized and efficient
    • Excited by and open to new ideas and new ways of doing things 
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines in high-paced work environment
    • Proactive and works with minimal supervision
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel and ERP (or other similar accounting software)
    • Willingness to take on all kinds of tasks and areas of responsibility, including at short notice

Location

This position is based in IDinsight’s Delhi, India office.. This position is not eligible for remote work, or otherwise. Preference will be given to those with pre-existing work authorization in India; however, IDInsight will seek work permits where possible for exceptional candidates. 

Start date

The start date of this position is as soon as possible, with a preference for candidates that can start immediately.
